When Infor's annual in-person event moved to a digital format, it was time to get creative. This live event required enormous preparation and 10 months of work. In this video, Infor's CTO interacts with a colleague based on the script and talking points outlined. Content was developed to support a wide variety of business activities that included marketing campaigns, sales initiatives, communications and public relations projects, and more. Let's open a can of
worms: social media
Social media is an important part of a marketing strategy and content approach. Social, however, is not always easy or straightforward. Many businesses struggle to get social right.
If you are only getting 11 Likes on your posts, you need to pause and consider a few initial things. First, have you rallied your troops? A crowd attracts a crowd and engaging your team first can help. Second, do you understand your audience needs and interests? Third, are you being consistent in posting activity, engagement, and branding?
Here are key points to consider around building your social media presence.
1. Goals and audience
What are you trying to achieve and who are you trying to reach? Understanding the interests, online behavior, and content needs of your audience is crucial for successful social media. While you have goals, you must prioritize audience first.
2. Platform selection
You cannot be all things to all people everywhere. Executing a few platforms that matter to your audience correctly is more important than being on every social media platform. Choose intentionally where you spent your time.
3. Necessary engagement
Engagement is a core component of social media. If you are not reacting to comments, proactively asking questions, or engaging on social accounts outside your own that are important to your audience, you are missing opportunity.
4. Brand consistency
When you post, is it obvious to your audience after a while that the post is coming from you? That can be reflected in the use of voice and tone, colors, and much more. While you need to keep your social feed interesting and change things up often, ensuring content and brand consistency is critical.
5. Visual content
So much noise in marketplaces requires a strong effort to stand out. Visuals like images and video are an absolute necessity for successful social media results. Video is leading the way, generally, and that is a good place to begin reviewing.
6. Content presentation
In social, the real estate you have to tell your story is abbreviated. You have to find creative ways to modify and amplify messages. Make sure you consistently share content that is informative, helpful, interesting, fun, or creative.
